Quiet is the early morning
Before the flies and the tractors et out of bed

We wake up when the alarm bells ring
And splash cold water on our tired skin
Feet aren’t ready to get back into their boots so soon
Instant coffee, toast, baked beans
Sunlight spilling through the curtain seams
